TEFL Internships in Thailand
How does five and a half months living and working as an English teacher in Thailand sound? If you’re an expat from the UK, US, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand or Australia you could be heading out to Thailand in October 2012 to spend five and a half fantastic months teaching English!
We’ve teamed up with Teach and Travel Thailand to give you the chance to get 140 hours of i-to-i TEFL training followed by five and a half amazing months experience of teaching English in Thailand, with 24-hour support.
What Happens Before You Arrive in Thailand?
If you're not already qualified, i-to-i will provide you with extensive TEFL training, to make sure you’re ready for your first day in the classroom. You’ll get:
- 140 hours of comprehensive TEFL training, including 20 hours of practical, face-to-face training when you arrive in Bangkok
- Expert tutor advice and tips from the i-to-i TEFL team
- Instructions on how to complete your application for the internship program
Once you’ve sent your application form and documentation through to the Teach and Travel Thailand team, they'll work with you directly to organise your placement, arrange your visa and ensure you have all the information you need to arrive in Thailand full of confidence and ready to teach!
What Do You Get in Thailand?
By the time your plane arrives in Bangkok the Teach and Travel Thailand team will have arranged a reputable teaching position for you. So your first few days in Thailand will be about settling in, experiencing life in the Thai capital and getting prepared for your five and a half months of teaching! You’ll get:
- A reputable, 5.5 month internship set up for you
- More than enough cash to enjoy your free time: You’ll receive a minimum of 10,000 Thai baht (R2,300) every month, with an additional 2,500 Thai Baht as a bonus each month
- Free accommodation A Thai-style studio apartment near your school to call your own
- 24/7 in-country support With airport pickup and transfers, a full orientation upon arrival and a school contact to help you get settled, you’ll get all the support you need from the minute your plane touches down

- Exciting social events organised for you Get to know all the other interns (and sample some Thai food and drink!) during your 5-day orientation with a welcome dinner and Bangkok city tour.
What Do You Need to Do the Internship?
You’ll need 140 hours of TEFL training. If you haven’t got a 140 hour TEFL certificate, we’ll train you before you head off for Bangkok. If you're already TEFL certified, call our TEFL experts to discuss your options.
You’ll need to:
- Be able to spend five and a half months in Thailand starting 13th October 2012
- Be a native English speaker
- Have a full university degree
- Be aged between 21 and 45
- Hold a passport from one of the following countries: Ireland, US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand
- Have a taste for adventure, an open mind and a little bit of wanderlust will come in handy too!
What you don’t need
- You won’t need to be able to speak Thai. As an English language teacher, the best thing you can do is create a totally English-speaking atmosphere for your students
- Any previous teaching experience – the Teach in Thailand Internship welcomes total beginners.
